I decided to enroll my son to a Math program as I realize that he was not able to do simple addition and also feedback from his childcare teacher that he is slow in understanding the math concept. Through a parent recommendation, I arranged for a diagnostic test for him at the centre and through this test the trainer will know which booklet to start him off. It is a personalized kind of program where there can be a few kids in the classroom but all doing different things based on their pace and ability. The trainer will also use different tools to explain the math concept to him which I feel makes it easier to understand and visualize especially for a slow learner like him. There is also some thinking games like completing puzzles to train his thinking and problem solving skills which he enjoys more. I really feel that with the aid of these tools its really very effective compared to me teaching him myself.
