Purposeful play helps your child to develop intellectually and physically, to his or her maximum potential. It brings together the goodness of various well-thought out activities, to help develop strong bodies and confident minds. Here at Gymnademics, we too strongly believe that a child's progressive brain development can be enhanced through key environmental stimuli in an enjoyable setting

The centre offers a combination of learning and physical activities. Each week there will be a theme and flash cards with words and pictures are shown and introduced to the class. The kids will then have to match them I.e. Pictures to words and vice versa. There are also story telling time and other activities associated with the theme for that day. There will be then physical activities like obstacles course, swings, slide, balance beam etc the course is rather well balanced with both the learning and physical part and so I find it rather good. Rather then targeting entirely on academics at such a young age. There's also music and songs part where the kids can sing and dance along. There's also flash card showing the different music notes and be introduced to simple musical instruments like the xylophone. Overall quite enjoyable to see him learn and have fun at the same time.

We joined Gymnademics at the ARC (the second branch after SAFRA Toa Payoh) for a few months before they consolidated the branches to SAFRA Toa Payoh and changed their name to Sparkanauts. We were unable to continue because SAFRA Toa Payoh is too far away from us, but my 3-yo child loved his classes at ARC which were very engaging both physically and intellectually and the teachers were very enthusiastic as well. The best thing is that we are emailed the materials used in every class to revise at home with the kids. Also they were very flexible about the class schedule (you could choose which weeks you wanted to come in) which was helpful when we were away or the child was sick. If it was more conveniently located for us we would have continued attending.

So I did. I am impressed by the various activities during the class, notably because they combined physical activities with sit-down activities. Examples of physical activities are: circuit training (trampoline, balance beam, hopping, crawling through tunnel), swinging on trapeze, transporting fruits one at a time from one container to the other etc. Examples of the sit-down/academic activities are: flash cards, stories, music (it was chime bars for our session), rhymes, matching words with photos etc. My toddler is an active kind and cannot sit still. So she was very interested in the physical activities. Few sit-down activities interest her. The activities that my toddler enjoyed the most was the transporting fruits one at a time from one container to the other (she was so excited like there some kind of competition of sort, and she even tried to move two fruits at a go, which we of course disallowed). She also enjoyed the mini trampoline and the crawling through tunnel. My verdict is: I like that the curriculum because it combines physical activities and sit-down/ academic activities. Had the location been more convenient (aka near my home), I would have signed up for my gal.
